A Good Man Is Never Wasted

Why good men and heavy drinking are incompatible

It’s bizarre that we equate drinking with manliness when it embodies both weakness and toxic masculinity — and often is the root cause. Not being in complete control of your faculties seems like the opposite of what a good man should be.

What traits do you think of when you think of a good man?

Consider what words come to mind, whether you’re a man or a woman, but the list is generally the same.

Here are the top words that Google produced:

Ambitious
Confident
Loyal
Courageous
Funny
Creative
Intelligent

Now, ask yourself: Which of these traits are improved by alcohol?

I would argue none of them, but if “courageous” jumped out at you because we call alcohol “liquid courage,” let’s take a closer look:

Is liquid courage real courage — or is it just being a dumbass?

What a mighty good man?
