AA Is To Sobriety What CrossFit Is To Fitness
It’s one way of doing it — but not the only way
Whether you are into fitness or sobriety, chances are you’ve heard of CrossFit and Alcoholics Anonymous.
About ten years ago, I noticed a few friends on Facebook posting pictures of themselves and their fitness results after joining CrossFit. I was impressed, and I wanted to hear more.
Always curious, I messaged one of my friends, who gave me a brief synopsis of the CrossFit program. She added, “You kind of have to drink the Kool-Aid,” meaning you must buy into the program to get the results.
Understood. This should go for any program, for anything.
I’ve been into fitness since my 20s and became a personal trainer in my 30s after my wife and I bought a gym, and I’ve always believed that physical fitness and sobriety should go hand in hand.
You can’t achieve the highest level of either one without the other.
So I decided to give it a shot, and after only one session, I knew exactly what my future with CrossFit would be:
