Art Makes You Immortal
Your music, dance, art, or life story can be your legacy
Whether you play music, or dance, or you create art — your art can last forever. If you’re a writer or a poet or a dimestore philosopher, the same thing applies. You can pass all of these things down to future generations.
I am very fortunate to have known my great-grandparents. My great-grandmother died when I was seven, but I still have warm, vivid memories of her, especially around the holidays and Christmastime.
I was sixteen when my great-grandfather passed away, so not only do I have memories of him, I can still hear his voice — and his little chuckle that whistled through his teeth.
He lived well into his nineties and had a miraculous life; the highlights of which were recorded for posterity.
What a gift.
Sometime around his 90th birthday, my Uncle Pete decided to “interview” my great-grandfather, Elmer Rowe, and record all of it.
