Dear Martin,

I'm very careful never to say "AA doesn't work." I've seen it work, and I have friends and loved ones who swear by it.

What I feel the need to say emphatically is that it didn't work FOR ME.

The problem with AA is that it puts the blame on the drinker when this happens--never the program itself.
