“Do I Have A Drinking Problem?”
There’s an easy litmus test that is often overlooked
This is a question that millions of people ask themselves at some point in their lives.
Do I have a drinking problem?
I asked myself this question too many times to count, which is a red flag in itself. When the writing is on the wall, you have to read it.
I grew up in a chaotic household with a father who was a problem drinker, so when I started drinking in my late teens, I could spot all of the warning signs that I had already seen in my father.
I kept drinking anyway.
By age 21, I was the lead singer in a hard rock band — Laughing Colors — and drinking daily. It was the 1990s when drinking, drugs, and partying were all part of the lead singer’s job description.
Even if you had a “problem” with booze and drugs, it wasn’t considered a problem. You were doing your job.
Things had to go pretty far off the rails to be in a rock band and admit you had a drinking problem — and they did.
