There’s an easy litmus test that is often overlooked

This is a question that millions of people ask themselves at some point in their lives.

Do I have a drinking problem?

I asked myself this question too many times to count, which is a red flag in itself. When the writing is on the wall, you have to read it.

I grew up in a chaotic household with a father who was a problem drinker, so when I started drinking in my late teens, I could spot all of the warning signs that I had already seen in my father.

I kept drinking anyway.

By age 21, I was the lead singer in a hard rock band — Laughing Colors — and drinking daily. It was the 1990s when drinking, drugs, and partying were all part of the lead singer’s job description.

The best of the best are all gone

Even if you had a “problem” with booze and drugs, it wasn’t considered a problem. You were doing your job.

Things had to go pretty far off the rails to be in a rock band and admit you had a drinking problem — and they did.
