Everyone Is An Addict — Including You
To understand alcohol and drug addiction just look in the mirror
When you’re addicted to alcohol or other drugs, it’s very difficult to explain what that’s like to someone who isn’t — or never has been.
They just can’t comprehend why someone would keep repeating self-destructive behavior over and over again.
I don’t blame them.
I know how often my habits have confounded me, and if I had a dime for every time I asked myself “How the fuck did I end up here again?” I could buy the Betty Ford Clinic.
But the clues are lurking below the surface in all of us.
Almost everyone has a habit they wish they could stop, yet they keep repeating it — day in and day out.
Whether it’s overeating, mindlessly scrolling on social media, doing too much Amazon shopping, not exercising, arguing with your significant other, or continuously choosing toxic relationships, we all do things that we wish we wouldn’t do.
Does this make you an addict? Not necessarily.
