Hollywood Endings Are Not The Reality Of Substance Abuse

Not famous.
But I happen to have a lot in common with celebrities like Eminem, Miley Cyrus, Demi Lovato, Ben Affleck, and Dax Shephard — just to name a few.
I don’t mean to shamelessly name-drop, but I rub elbows with some very famous people — even though I’ve never met them.
We have two critical life events in common: substance abuse and relapse.
There was a time not too long ago when a celebrity would get clean and sober and appear on the cover of People Magazine, ready to give the scoop on their battle with addiction — and their inspiring transformation.
The headline would say something about “their story” or their “new life.”
After a year or two on the wagon, they were ready to spill the beans about their addiction and claim victory over substance abuse.
I applaud these celebrities for their sobriety and…
