I No Longer Find Beautiful Women Attractive

I never thought that day would come

Even when I was prepubescent, I knew what I wanted to do with my life. By the time I reached my mid-teens, there was no doubt. I was going to be a rock star.

What seemed like a lot of fun to me at age ten or eleven — playing loud music onstage for the masses — now was the ultimate dream.

Puberty added an essential ingredient (rocket fuel) to my aspirations: girls. There was only one problem.

I was fat, I had zits and braces, and no talent. (Okay — maybe that’s four problems).

I was invisible to girls and terrified to approach them, and even if I could sing or play guitar (at the time, I couldn’t), no garage band wanted the fat kid with braces.

Fortunately, that didn’t stop me.

My desire to be a rock singer was so strong that I began practicing, playing, and singing whenever possible. Now that I was interested in girls, that only added fuel to my fire.

In the process, I lost weight, got my braces off, and acquired enough skills to try out as the lead singer of a local rock band. I got the job.
