This past election taught me that I no longer have faith that America is headed in the right direction. That may sound painfully obvious to you, but on a deeper level, here’s what I mean…

We are flawed, imperfect, misguided, and full of warts — currently and historically — but I used to have the general sense that we were evolving and “going the right way,” even when we were off course.

We’ve always had room to improve racial issues, gender issues, LGBTQ issues, etc., but we were at least making progress — a fact that many still choose to deny or refuse to acknowledge.

If you don’t believe we’ve made progress, rewind to 1960 and tell me how we were doing back then.

This isn’t a diatribe on Trump and everything abhorrent about the MAGA movement because the counter movement (or lack thereof) is proving to be equally disenchanting.

Last summer, after the Trump vs. Biden debate, I seriously considered not voting for president…
