Is There An Afterlife?
I’m with Einstein and Hawking on this
I have a lot of opinions that make people uncomfortable. You may have already read a few — but don’t get squeamish on me now.
I’ll share my most important thought because it’s the opinion that makes all other opinions obsolete.
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us, only sky
1. You get only one life — and that’s it.
There’s no afterlife, no heaven or hell, and when you die — that’s it. The end. I know that’s not as poetic as John Lennon once said, but that’s the jist.
I have shared this perspective before, but it’s not something that I like to shout from the rooftops.
It usually comes out when I have an existential tête-à-tête with a friend, and they ask me, “Do you believe in an afterlife?” Or “What do you think happens when you die?”
I’ve learned that “nothing” is not a very popular answer — and it’s not my goal to make people angry or upset. It’s simply the answer that makes the most sense to me.
I don’t claim to have any special powers, so just like you, there’s no way I can be 100% sure. But there’s an obvious clue as to what it’s like after…
