For women, each drink is like one cigarette

I’m going to tell you a story about Susan. Susan has never had a problem with alcohol. At least — she never thought she did.

Then she got breast cancer.

Susan started drinking in college, and like most college kids, she overdid it from time to time.

Once she graduated, she got a good job and started drinking moderately with her girlfriends on the weekends — never during the work week.

She knew that interfered with her energy, mood, and focus.

In her late 20s, she met Dan, the man of her dreams, and they got married.

Life was wonderful.

When she was pregnant with her first child, she stopped drinking and didn’t start again until the baby was three months old and she went back to work.

Two years later, Dan and Susan had their second child, so she repeated the process of being abstinent for a year.

When she went back to work again, her drinking resumed — but still at a moderate level.

With the stress of work, marriage, and two young children, Susan started having a glass…
