“Murphy’s Law” And Other Disempowering Bullshit
We all know the cliche people use when something goes wrong. Some unexpected obstacle appears out of nowhere, and inevitably, a defeated friend, family member, or coworker feels compelled to say, “Echh…it figures…Murphy’s Law.” (womp womp)
The consensus understanding of this so-called “law” is that if something can go wrong, it will.
Wait whaa? I smell bullshit.
So, I began to ponder.
What is the phrase’s origin, is it an actual law, and who the hell is Murphy?
After many sleepless nights poring over archives and peer-reviewed data (I Googled it), I found astonishing answers.
And not-so astonishing.
Murphy’s Law is bullshit.
Using your sense of logic and reason, is there any truth to “If something can go wrong — it will?”
Of course not.
For instance, the ceiling could collapse on me right now, zebras could run through my kitchen, or a meteorite could be headed directly for your Hyundai.
