If you asked any random drinker why they drink alcohol they would most likely point to one or more of the following:

To relax, to have fun, to be more outgoing.

Some might even say it’s for their health — while others say it’s a great escape. All of these are really bad reasons for drinking.

So let’s examine My Top 5 Bad Reasons To Drink a little closer…

5. For Your Health (wtf?)

Alcohol can cause high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, liver disease, and digestive problems. It also causes cancer of the breast, mouth, throat, esophagus, voice box, liver, colon, and rectum.

The myth that drinking alcohol is good for your health has been debunked, as every recent global study has determined that NO AMOUNT OF ALCOHOL IS GOOD FOR YOU.

4. To Relax

Drinking alcohol for anxiety is like pouring gasoline on a bonfire.

Even if you just have a drink or two to “unwind” after a long day, you’re only increasing your anxiety level.

Alcohol is a depressant, which means you may feel temporary relief, but when the alcohol wears off the anxiety comes back with a vengeance.

If you do this habitually, most of the anxiety that you’re trying to escape by drinking is caused by drinking alcohol.

3. To Be More Outgoing

I have to admit — alcohol makes me more outgoing. No question. After a good buzz, I find it much easier to talk to anyone about anything.

But — is that a good thing?

It wasn’t in my case.

Even if I felt like I was being funny, outgoing, and gregarious while I was drinking (for the first few drinks anyway), the next day I would always question whether I had been obnoxious or…
