Red Flag: When Your Wife/GF Barely Shows You On Social Media

Whatever her excuse is, it’s not a good one

3 min readApr 21, 2025

If you’re a married man or in a serious relationship, your absence from your significant other’s social media profile(s) should be considered a major red flag.

Here are a few exceptions….

1. If the relationship is new. She may not want to “commit” to announcing it publicly yet, and that’s understandable. We’ve all seen women who announce a new Prince Charming every six months.

2. If she exclusively (or primarily) promotes her business on social media. (It should go without saying that I’m referring to her professional business.)

3. If you’ve told her you prefer not to be included. But did you tell her that — or did she “assume?” (she said)

You may be a shy guy with little or no social media presence, but don’t let her use that as an excuse unless you’ve told her specifically you don’t want to be pictured with her on social media.

It’s hard to imagine any man wanting to be excluded entirely from his wife’s or girlfriend’s social media, no matter how shy he is. Having your existence acknowledged is rarely a bad thing.
