While sobriety success rates in AA are difficult to quantify for a number of reasons, the most obvious is the anonymous nature of the program, and that AA does not keep such records.

The success rates come from independent polls of AA members. In these polls, it is generally determined that 25% of AA members stay sober for one year, which, obviously can only decline overtime.
