The Easy Way To Stop Drinking
I was skeptical — until I read it
When I first saw the title of Allen Carr’s thought-challenging book, “The Easy Way To Stop Drinking,” I rolled my eyes aggressively. I was more amused than offended, knowing what a ridiculous claim that is.
There is no easy way to stop drinking — I thought.
If there was, every problem drinker would do it.
Right?
In hindsight, I can see why the title is perfect.
It was straightforward and bold enough to make me want to (have to) read the book—if only to lampoon its hogwash.
But once I began reading — still keeping an eagle eye out for bullshit — I noticed that Mr. Carr was making a lot of sense.
Allen Carr is also the author of “The Easy Way To Quit Smoking,” which has sold over 12 million copies worldwide, so I figured I owed him to continue.
This book single-handedly changed the way I looked at alcohol, alcohol abuse, and sobriety.
