Why You Should Love Bob Dylan — Even If You Don’t Like His Music

I understand if you don’t like Bob Dylan- his music, his voice, or both.
I said the same thing to my oldest son, Dylan, who is named after him.

Does Bob Dylan sing like an angel? No.

Is he a master of the guitar? Nah.

Is Bob Dylan my favorite artist of all time? Nope.
He probably wouldn’t crack the top 20.

So why would I name my first born child after him?

Besides the fact that I liked the name, and my ex-wife wouldn’t go for “Hendrix” or “Jerry Garcia Tieff,” it’s because he’s the most important songwriter of the 20th century.

Important is the key word.

Influential…impactful…

Necessary. That’s it.

Bob Dylan was necessary.

If you don’t like Bob Dylan and can’t stand his nasal crooning — you’re not alone. His vocal critics (pun intended) have been doing bad impressions of his “Didn’t yoooouuuuu” singing for decades.

I know it’s an acquired taste, but I love Bob Dylan’s voice.
