You can spot an AA member a mile away as soon as they start with their “humble gaslighting“

It’s always “I hope you’re not drinking“ or “why are you so angry?” as if AA and its members are all in a perpetual Zen-like state and AA itself is beyond criticism.

if you’re sober, and AA keeps you sober I am happy about that. Truly I am. But AA needs to join the 21st-century in terms of science and data. I don’t blame Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob, I blame the powers that be at AA for not remaining current.


There are some AA members who understand that there are other programs and other paths to sobriety, but I’ve been to enough meetings to know that the general vibe is that AA is the only way. And there’s a lot of outdated terminology that isn’t just ignorant it’s dangerous.
